Beschrijving

The 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Collector's Series was Lincoln's absolute top model, released to mark the end of Mark V production and the era of the gigantic, traditional American luxury cars. At over 5.8 meters (230 inches) long, it was one of the largest coupes ever built.
The Collector's Series was essentially a continuation of the 1978 Diamond Jubilee Edition, but with its own unique finish: Exterior: Identified by gold accents in the grille, specific "Collector's Series" decals on the rear pillar (which replaced the standard opera windows) and a padded vinyl "Continental" spare tire accent on the trunk. Colors: Initially only available in Midnight Blue Metallic and White. Diamond Blue and Light Silver Metallic were added mid-year.
Interior: Equipped with extremely luxurious Kasman II velor or optional leather, a leather-covered dashboard, real ebony accents and deep-pile carpet. Extras: Each car came with a special leather folder for the manual and a tool kit in a leather case.
Although the car was huge, emissions regulations made the engines less powerful than their predecessors: Engine: Equipped as standard with a 400 cu in (6.6L) V8, good for approximately 159 hp. The larger 460 V8 was briefly available in early 1979 but soon disappeared due to fuel consumption regulations. Transmission: A smooth C6 3-speed automatic. Weight: About 2,100 to 2,250 kg.
Production numbers A total of 6,262 copies were produced, divided by color:
Midnight Blue: 3,900 units (the most popular choice).
White: 2,040 pieces.Diamond Blue: 197 pieces (very rare).L
ight Silver: 125 pieces (the rarest color, only available from March 1979). Today the Mark V Collector's Series is a sought-after collector's item.
The presence of certain factory options can significantly affect the value:
Power Moonroof: This is one of the most sought-after options and can add $1,500 to $3,000 in value compared to a standard roof.
Rare Colors: The Diamond Blue and especially Light Silver Metallic colors (only 125 pieces) often fetch a premium due to their rarity.40-Channel CB Radio: Because this is a period icon, collectors are willing to pay more for a working and complete system (including the original microphone).
The most striking options Power Moonroof (Sliding roof): For a hefty additional cost of approximately $1,088 at the time, you could opt for a glass sliding roof with a sunshade. There was also a "fixed glass" version available.40-Channel CB Radio: In the 1970s the "bakkie" (Citizen's Band radio) was all the rage. This was fully integrated into the radio unit and had a special "multi-band" antenna. The microphone was conveniently stored in the center console. Miles-to-Empty Indicator: One of the first digital dashboard features. Based on your driving style, this display calculated how far you could still drive on the remaining fuel. Although often standard on the Collector's Series, it was groundbreaking technology at the time. Other luxury extras Sure-Track Brakes: An early form of ABS for the rear wheels to prevent skidding during hard braking. Heated exterior mirrors: Activated via the rear window heating, which was very progressive for 1979.
Leather upholstery: Although the "Kasman II" velor was standard (and was considered more luxurious at the time), you could opt for a full leather interior at no extra cost. Garage Door Opener: A programmable remote control for your garage door was incorporated into the sun visor.
A nice detail. The leather center console of this car not only had room for your cassette tapes, but also a special Lincoln umbrella with a handle that matched the interior.
