Chrysler New Yorker Deluxe St. Regis
The New Yorker Deluxe St. Regis was introduced in 1955 as a luxury hardtop coupe for the American well-to-do buyers. Under the heading of "The 100 million dollar look" or "America's most smartly different car" it was published in every car magazine. Named after the most luxurious hotel in the world , the St. Regis in New York, the two-door coupe impressed with its absolutely breathtaking design, the gigantic dimensions and with its Hemi V8 engine, which was already able to produce 250 HP in 1955. It was very, very good for that time.
According to the Chrysler Heritage Certificate we received, the coupe offered here was produced on 03.03.1955 and delivered to the dealer Charles French Motors in San Francisco. The delivery color was the two-tone Desert Sand / Navajo Orange. The handover to the married couple John and Majorje D took place on March 18, 1955. The documents of the time are still available. John died in 1962 and his wife drove this St. Regis until 1971 (mileage approx. 70,000). Then an automatic transmission problem prevented further trips and Majorje parked this coupe in her garage and bought a Ford Mustang. Majorje D. died in 2007 and her son Robert took over this car. He could not decide whether to restore it and in the end it was sold to its last owner in Germany in 2012. The latter imported the Chrysler and had it completely restored with the help of various specialist workshops. In 2014, the completely documented restoration (including countless invoices) was completed and transferred to the collection of the German owner. A few thousand kilometers have been driven since the restoration, with the New Yorker proving itself as a reliable travel companion. After lengthy negotiations, we were finally able to acquire this exceptional, fantastically documented coupé and we now offer it here.
